Sitting high on a steep site above the Great Ocean Road in Wye River, the original home was sadly lost in the Christmas Day bushfire.

In providing a new home that is responsive to its natural environment and resilient to bushfire threat, a simple and robust material palette was employed to meet a BAL40standard. A pre-cast concrete bushfire bunker was Installed on the site to provide further resilience to the threat of future bushfires.

A discrete entry framed by a textural rammed earth wall draws visitors in, where a large cantilever seemingly suspends you above the ocean with awe inspiring 180° views.
